We supplied the splashback tile for this Point Cook kitchen: a textured brick-look tile for the wall behind the cooktop. Ultimate Renovations completed the kitchen renovation around it.

Our Part in This Point Cook Kitchen

This was a full kitchen renovation, and the splashback was the tile we were asked to help with. The wall behind the cooktop sits between a dark stone benchtop and walnut-look cabinetry, so whatever went there had to work with both. We're based in Geelong West and supply tiles to Melbourne as well, so a Point Cook project is well within what we do.

We looked at textured and brick-look options and settled on one that adds character to the wall without adding another strong colour to a kitchen that already had plenty of contrast.

What We Supplied

Why We Chose a Textured Tile

With stone, timber-look cabinetry and dark lower cabinets already in the kitchen, a plain or strongly patterned splashback would have been one element too many. A textured tile gives the wall some interest through its surface instead.

If you're choosing a splashback, bring a sample or photo of your benchtop and cabinetry when you visit. Seeing the tile beside them makes colour and texture much easier to judge than looking at it alone, and it's worth checking the sample in your kitchen's own light as well.

The Kitchen Before and After

The splashback went in as part of a wider renovation carried out by Ultimate Renovations. The photos show the full change to the room; for the whole renovation story, see their Point Cook kitchen project page.

Point Cook Kitchen Project FAQs

We wanted the wall behind the cooktop to have some character without competing with the walnut-look cabinetry and dark stone around it. A textured tile adds interest through its surface rather than through a bold colour or pattern.
